Pond, Quiet Waters

Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, Maryland is the location of many afternoons for me. It allows for a long walk around its perimeter, with most of it being in a wooded area, and affords a nice view of a feeder to the Chesapeake Bay.

This infrared image is of a small pond within the park, captured with the now discontinued Kodak HSI 4X5 film.

Thank you for the kind words. As we’re now in “infrared season” I look forward to getting more images captured and placed on GLSmyth.com.

The last infrared I took was on a trip to the Four Corners area in about 1992. It was so hard to get consistency with them. But the effects were mesmerizing. This is a great shot. I have to ask – since the film is discontinued, did you stash it away for the future? What will you do when you run out?

I have five boxes of HSI remaining in my freezer, so once it’s gone then that’s it. There is another large format infrared available (the name of the company escapes me) that does not go nearly as far into the infrared spectrum, so I’ll have to give that a try when the time comes. Cheers – george
