It looks like I have a “performers” theme here. This particular image is of John Gorka, one of the great folk artists touring today. The image was taken at the Rams Head Tavern, where I have seen many concerts.
My first John Gorka CD was purchased about 15 years ago, after coming across one of his songs on a Windam Hill compilation, and I have most of them to date. His song, “I’m From New Jersey,” made me a listener for life, as I am originally from New Jersey, and the words ring true for one who moved to West Virginia at about the age of 12.
I would love to be able to play his music on my Eclectic Mix podcast and introduce a new group of people to his music, but alas, he is a signed artist, which means that there is no way to do this legally. However, I will continue enjoying the stories in his songs, and would recommend his music to anyone willing to listen.
