The image was made by shooting 44 sets of 3 images atop the Sir Walter Scott Monument in Edinburgh, where each set contained an underexposed, overexposed, and properly exposed capture.  Each set was put together using Photomatix, which allowed me the choices that resulted in what you see.  Someone else could have made completely different choices with the software and created a much different image.
