As Hurricane Bill wandered up the east coast this past summer, I happened to be at Tobay Beach on Long Island, New York. I posted a composite shot of waves coming in at https://glsmyth.wordpress.com/2009/08/23/tobay-beach/, which appear tame unless one looks into the distance and sees a rather large wave on its way.
My primary objective, however, was to take pinhole images of the event. The images I took were in stark contrast some others that showed 5-7 foot waves on their way toward shore. Since all of the images were in the 6-12 second exposure range, the idea was not to capture the waves, but more their effects.
I ended up with five pinhole images that I liked, and this week I will release one each day, as these really should be seen as a set.
