I have taken a lot of pictures in New York City with rarely a notice or care from those I photograph. This was a different situation. I simply walked around to the side of the vendor’s cart and took the picture, which for some reason was a cause of great discomfort to him. He started yelling, “What! You crazy? You crazy?” I smiled and walked away, knowing that it would be an interesting day.
I still have no idea what his problem was. This was somewhere near the diamond district, so perhaps the next time I am in the area I will be able to find him and get an updated shot, hopefully with better focus this time.
The photo has captured his mood very well. Perhaps he was just having a bad day!? Great image.
