I attended a workshop with Mary Ellen Mark at the Center for Photography at Woodstock a couple of weeks ago. Almost 45 years after the festival (which was actually closer to Bethel, NY), Woodstock is a quirky little town where houses have had their fronts modified to accommodate the creation of small shops of all sorts.

Of course, there is no shortage of characters, and Grandfather and Grandmother Woodstock are two of them. I encountered them in the town square and we spoke for a while. Although he insisted that despite the fact that he had recently gotten a computer and had no idea how to use it, he wanted to make sure that I Googled him.
